Thompson Steer is based in Coonawarra, one of the truly remarkable winemaking regions in South Australia located in the heart of what's referred to as the "Limestone Coast." Over centuries the limestone soils of the region have been weathered by iron oxide, turning the soils red and giving it the distinct landscape the area is so well known for today!
Like many others, the team at Thompson Steer recognized the unique and ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon here - the red clay that's produced by the eroding limestone is ideal for water retention, plus the warm sun of South Australia ripens fruit like nowhere else in the world!
The end result is a Cabernet rich in color and character, and a surefire winner for all fans of ripe, rich expressions of this noble variety.
