The 2017 Estampa Del Viento Sauvignon Blanc was produced with grapes from Paredones at eight kilometers from the sea, which always delivers a wine with moderate alcohol & remarkable acidity & freshness, even in a warm & dry vintage. The whole clusters from 2.7 hectares of vines planted in 2009 were harvested early to keep the crunchy acidity & were pressed after one day in cold storage. The juice fermented in stainless steel with selected yeasts, & the lees were stirred two to three times per week for a period of four months. The character of the cool-climate Sauvignon is a little less evident this year, but it's still quite mineral rather than fruit driven. The palate is quite mellow, with nice integration of all the elements, with integrated acidity & good balance. It's quite round & gentle, very approachable. 4,950 bottles were filled in September 2017. |
Description:
The vineyard site that goes into this wine is very close to coastal waters and is affected by the cooler climates. Grapes don't get overly ripe in this region which creates a very mineral driven style. It also contains a higher level of acidity which makes the wine light and very crisp.
This is a Sauvignon Blanc for warm weather, that is perfect to sit outside and sip on under the sun. Whether you are by the pool. on the beach, or just enjoying the weather on the patio, this is the kind of wine you are going to want in your glass.
