"Deep red. Fresh strawberry and cherry on the nose, with intense fresh herb tones. Fleshy and sweet, with bright red fruit flavors framed by silky tannins. Picks up an interesting mineral character with sir, and finishes with excellent verve and precision. For a "basic" wine, this is outstanding." |

"The 2004 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape shows pure red fruit and raspberry notes on the nose with a medium bodied palate, a clean and precise feel and a nice finish." |
91 Pts Wine Spectator |
"Solid, with raspberry and boysenberry fruit and notes of garrigue, briar, graphite and mineral. Long, gravelly finish shows juicy acidity and tannins that are more muscular than those in most 2004s. Best from 2007 through 2020. 3,750 cases made. -JM" |
Description:
Domaine Pierre Usseglio and Son is a family business. It began operation in 1948 but soon 1931, the grandfather, Francis Usseglio, left Italy to come to work at Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine as a laborer. In November 1948, he had the opportunity to use 8 acres of vineyard sharecropping. He then began to develop its own wine. His very first crop out of the press in 1949. Later, his son Pierre takes the succession and increases the area of ââthe field. Today it stretches over 24 hectares, divided into 17 plots that are exploited by two sons: Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usseglio." - Winery
