"It was extremely interesting tasting three vintages of the same wine side by side, where the 2013 3000 Años clearly showed the character of the growing season, with 1% less alcohol than the previous year and higher acidity. The nose even showed an herbal touch I often associate with Syrah, while the palate showed more the rustic elegance of Monastrell. It's powerful but at the same time it's also a lot fresher than the other vintages. It should develop nicely in bottle. 9,800 bottles were filled in May 2015." |
Description:
3000 Anos is a deep purple wine with pronounced aromas of black fruits andchicory characters -- unique to Bullas Monastrell -- toasty wood, cedar and cappucino. Despite being a fullbodied wine, it is surprisingly elegant with crisp acidity, tight tannins, a creamy vanilla texture and along mineral finish. Cellar a few bottles for up to 10 years to enjoy even more character and complexityat a later date, although it is also drinking brilliantly now with game, venison, wild boar and punchyragout or tomato-based dishes.
The vineyards are amongst the highest altitude in Bullas at over 800m above sea level with complexlimestone and volcanic soils. Vines are dry grown and unirrigated in this inhospitable Mediterranean /Continental climate with extremes of temperature. Of the three Murcian DOs, Bullas has a fresher, longer growing season which favours minerality and balance in the wines. " - Winery
