"Fresh and clean red with lavender, mineral and blueberry character. Full body, firm tannins and a crisp finish. Drink now." |
90 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous |
"Viticcio's 2012 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Beatrice shows the darker side of Sangiovese, aided by a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon that seems to add a bit of inkiness and overall structure. Firm tannins and broad shoulders give the 2012 much of its expansive, full-bodied personality. The Beatrice is a powerful, virile wine, so it will need time in bottle to fully come together. As good as the Beatrice is, it isn't meaningfully better nor more complex than some of the other wines in the range." |
Description:
Viticcioâs estate property extends to 120 hectares of land in Chianti Classico, Maremma, and Bolgheri wine-making zones. About sixty hectares are organically cultivated with vineyards, prevalently Sangiovese, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, and Vermentino.
Exalting the flavors and aromas of each variety is essential in obtaining wines that express the distinctive characteristics of the land. The grapes undergo a double selection in the vineyard during the harvest, and a further selection in the cellar on the sorting table, where all work is done entirely by hand and with the utmost attention.
The varieties are vinified separately at controlled temperatures, and the red grapes are always very gently crushed. We protect the racking from oxygen and utilize the latest enological technology to guide our process and hone the results of our final product. The choice of wood during aging is crucial, and we personally pick only the highest quality and best-made French oak barrels and tonneau." - Winery
