"Complex aromas of dried figs, dark fruits and hints of walnuts and dried meat. Full body, dense and polished palate. Velvety and poised tannins and a flavorful finish. Yet always refined and beautiful. You want to drink it now and can, but it has a beautiful future."

Description:

"In 1968, when Brunello di Montalcino was first given DOC status, Livio Sassetti was one of 11 producers to sign the charter. In 1980, he was there again as one of a total of 53 producers to witness Brunello di Montalcino become the first DOCG in all of Italy. Today, with over 200 producers making Brunello, Pertimali continues to be a shining and singular example of traditional, time-honored winemaking. The estate has farmed organically since the 1980s and ages their wines exclusively in giant, old oak casks. In 2007, a 5-star vintage, Lorenzo Sassetti decided to experiment with a single large barrel Brunello. He left the wine in cask for 10 full years - for lovers of ageworthy, old-school Brunello, this is not a wine to miss. Additionally, Pertimali has been making outstanding Sangiovese-based wines in the Montecucco region, plus remarkably good Prosecchi and Chardonnay from the Valdobbiadene." -Importer
