"Cellar Selection. Immensely inviting, this opens with fragrant pipe tobacco, crushed berry, new leather and pressed violet aromas. On the palate, firm, refined tannins underpin juicy black cherry, raspberry and cinnamon flavors, while orange zest accents and an energizing mineral note lift the finish. It's beautifully balanced with bright acidity and will reward a bit of cellaring. Drink 2020–2032."

Description:

"The Costantis are an old Sienese family dating back to the fifteenth century. They appear in the history of Montalcino as being involved in major event which led to the creation of the Republic of Siena in 1555. It was 1983 when a very young Andrea Costanti took over Colle a Matrichese, inheriting quite a large responsibility for one of the few distinguished labels of quality in Montalcino at the time. The passing years have demonstrated an increasingly confident manifestation of total harmony among the characteristics of the land, the Brunello of these unique vineyards and Andrea Costanti's sensibility to wine and his encompassing idea of the experience and pleasure of wine. In developing the aromatic variety of the wines as far as possible, he has aimed for an elegant and perfect bouquet. As a result, the vines have rewarded him with even richer aromas though grown at an altitude in excess of 400 meters with consequent extreme ranges in temperature.

The vineyards are at an altitde of 310-400m. above sea level, and for these great care has gone into selecting the optional exposure. The Brunello is aged in 30Hl Slavonian oak cask, between 3 and 15 years old and in 3,5Hl barriques." -Winery
