"The entry-level 2014 Prima is a blend of Tinta de Toro, 10% Garnacha and a little bit of white MalvasÃa. It matured in used barrique and oak vats to keep the fruit. 2014 is a cooler vintage, from a very balanced year and the wines show more freshness. This Prima keeps the primary fruit and feels young, but it has good depth and a very pleasant mouthfeel. Some 200,000 bottles were produced." |
Description:
Relatively warm winter, with below average rainfall and rapid bud break. Frost-free Spring, with early flowering beginning of June. Veraison was completed in the first week of August with moderate average maximum temperatures. From 8th September harvesting took place for 4 weeks with perfect weather conditions and occasional storms refreshing the grapes which had no impact on the health of the fruit.
Homogeneous crop in quantity and quality, with balanced phenolic ripeness, aromatic intensity, precise fruit, smooth tannins and well measured ageing. Irresistibly drinkable even in its first months." - Importer
