96 Pts Decanter

"Complex and already quite open on the nose, with lovely ripe fruit, violets, liquorice and hints of savoury herbs. Broadly woven on the palate, with mouthwatering concentration of flavours. (R.B)"

Description:

All Tignanello, Sassicaia and Ornellaia buyers out there are going to be absolutely amazed at just how good this wine is for the money! Not only is it half the price of Sassicaia and Ornellaia, it will amaze even those of you who normally love wines like Tignanello!!!

On top of that, Decanter Magazine ranked this as one of the top wines of the vintage in Bolgheri. That...combined with the special price and free shipping bonus...make this an amazing deal!

96 Points and ranked side by side with Sassicaia and Ornellaia
This is one of the top wines from Bolgheri...period!
2011 Collemassari Grattamacco 'grattamacco' Bolgheri Superiore

In August 2015, Decanter published a special feature on the wines from Bolgheri, vintages 2009-2011. On the cover is one of the most popular wines from the region: Ornellaia. Inside, the story centers around some of the hottest wines with ratings as high as 96 Points. The simply incredible wines from Sassicaia and Ornellaia earned 96 Point scores. One other wine scored 96 Points, and that's what caught our eye.

The wine was the 2011 Grattamacco. The notes from Decanter say it all: "Complex and already quite open on the nose, with lovely ripe fruit, violets, liquorice and hints of savoury herbs. Broadly woven on the palate, with mouthwatering concentration of flavors." - 96 Points

Those of you who don't know much about this estate yet .... wait until you try this!

Think about all the other Super Tuscan offers you normally buy. There are some amazing wines in this category. Depending on the varieties you normally look for ... your idea of the perfect Super Tuscan may vary. In this case, we're talking 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese.

This wine has more in common with greats like Guado al Tasso from Antinori. But, we have a feeling that Tignanello lovers who also love Cabernet Sauvignon will absolutely flip for this, too!

This is an estate you need to know about
Plus...this vintage is a great one to try now!

If you don't already know about this magnificent estate, this is a great vintage to try out now!

"Situated on a hilltop overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Grattamacco is in an ideal position to produce some of the finest wines in Italy. Second to Sassicaia only in historical chronology of the Bolgheri territory, the estate of Grattamacco planted its first roots in the Bolgheri in 1977 and produced its first wine in 1982. Claudio Tipa, owner of the famed Poggio di Sotto estate in Montalcino Castello and ColleMassari in Montecucco, and Luca Marrone, working together with consultant Maurizio Castelli, are producing wines of great distinction that continue to showcase and celebrate all that the Bolgheri embodies" - Importer

The 2011 vintage is incredible right now. There is no need to wait! You can enjoy it right away - or put in your cellar for another 10-15 years!

Either way...at this price...it will be one of the smartest Super Tuscan buys of the year!

"Intense and well outlined nose, very refined: evolving with black berries, together with clear balsamic and Mediterranean traces. Then progressively develop typical mineral notes. Enters the mouth austere and fresh, evolving in a good balance between the mineral traces and the fine tannic notes. Good length, with wide mineral notes." - Winery
