"A phenomenal nose of dried rose petal, dark chocolate, blueberry, and licorice. Full body, silky tannins and precise with length and finesse. Very complex. Drink or hold."

95 Pts Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The expressive and open 2012 Noemía from a ripe and warmish vintage has captivating balsamic aromas intermixed with notes of violets, cassis, black cherries and something soil-driven, earthy and even organic. The palate is medium to full-bodied, has great volume, heady fruit and round tannins that frame the tasty, almost salty finish. The only problem this wine has is to be tasted side by side with the otherworldly 2013. But you should not ignore this 2012. 4,900 bottles were filled unfixed and unfiltered in early December 2013.

"I had the luxury of tasting all the vintages ever produced of Noemía, the greatest wine of Río Negro, while visiting the property with winemaker Hans Vinding Diers. I could clearly see the evolution of the wine over the years, a wine that keeps the profile but has been getting finer, with more purity and precision each harvest, a fact that is especially noticeable since 2010. The 2013 was my favorite overall vintage (but let's wait for the 2015 to finish its élevage!), and after that my ranking would be 2011, 2010, 2007, 2006, 2012, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2002, 2001 and 2003. The 2001 and 2003 are fully resolved by now, but none of the vintages felt over the hill. A wine that is true to its origin and vintage. And let's not forget the other bottlings, from the minuscule Noemía 2 to the more widely available and great value A Lisa. These are wines I could drink every day. You should taste to understand the potential of Río Negro." August 2015.

95 Pts Tim Atkin, MW

"Five lots (from a total of only 1.5 hectares) make up this pre-phylloxera Malbec from Rio Negro. The oak is less and less a feature in Noemia, allowing the fruit from this remarkable vineyard to express itself. Sweet and silky, with effortless concentration and Pinot Noir like finesse, Hans Vinding Dier's Malbec is the best in Patagonia. Drink: 2015-22." Reviewed 2015.

Description:

"The estate is situated in the Rio Negro Valley, which is 620 miles South of Buenos Aires, 280 miles East of the Andes, 310 miles West of the Atlantic and a further 1240 miles from Tierra del Fuego. In other words, it is located in the middle of the desert. The valley’s microclimate is under the influence of two rivers deriving from the Andes, the Neuquen and the Limay which form into the Rio Negro, which throws itself into the Atlantic. The Rio Negro valley is an ex glacier which is 310 miles long and 15,5 miles large at 250 yards above sea level. In 1828, the British colonies, having observed the large amounts of water flowing in the river, decided to create hannels which would irrigate the valley thus forming a type of oasis in the middle of the desert." - Winery
