"A rich, juicy style, with ample cherry and raspberry fruit, balanced by leather, tar and mineral aromas. Fresh for the vintage, structured by dense, engaging tannins. Best from 2017 through 2026. 1,000 cases imported." Reviewed Feb 28,2015 |
92 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous |
"Rich and ample on the palate, the 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva shows plenty of vintage 2011 richness and breadth. Dark red and blue stone fruits, leather, cloves and lavender blossom in a generous, resonant Riserva with tons of near and medium term appeal. The 2011 is flashy and extroverted, but also very nicely balanced. This is arguably the best wine in the range." Reviewed May,2014 |
91 Pts James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com |
"Aromas of blueberry, blackberry and minerals follow through to a full body with a dense palate and firm tannins, but it's agile and racy. Better in 2015." Reviewed October 20, 2014 |
Description:
Fattoria Viticcio's Chianti Classico Riserva is the result of careful selection of the finest grapes during harvesting, with a predominance of Tuscan Sangiovese. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with a long maceration period. Rapid warming of the cellar at the end of the primary fermentation phase enables the swift onset of malolactic fermentation. Depending on the vintage, the wine is aged - in varying proportions and periods of time - in both medium-sized oak barrels and small oak barriques, in order to enhance the aromas to the full. The wine is then aged in horizontally-stored bottles and in temperature-controlled cellars for a minimum of 6 months.
