We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

91 Pts Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2013 Gorrondona white is mainly Hondarrabi Zuri, a young, fresh white with aromas of dried herbs, white fruit, freshly cut grass and a mineral sensation. The palate is light, fresh, well balanced, with great acidity and very good length. It calls for food. Drink now-2015."

"Doniene Gorrondona is one of the leading producers in the Bizkaiako Txakolina appellation. It’s a winery created in 1996 by four friends who wanted to recover the Txakoli tradition in a farmhouse in Bakio. They now own 15 hectares of vineyards. These are some of the best Txakolis around, full stop." (06/14)

Description:

WINERY:
"Doniene Gorrondona is a winery located in the once famous Bakio region of the Basque Country of Spain. Itziar and Andoni, along with another friend from the region, have rehabilitated and modernized this ancient vineyard and winery. Doniene Gorrondona owns a unique two-hectare parcel of pre-phylloxera Hondarribi Beltza. The vines are planted pergola-style to allow air circulation in this moist climate. The wine has refreshing sensations of Basque sea breezes. Slightly effervescent and very delicious."

"The significance of this winery’s location is evident from the moment one steps into the Bakio valley. The valley creates steep-sloped bowl that faces the Cantabrian Sea. Hondarribi Zuri has been planted in the well-drained soils of these slopes. The vines are farmed organically and the wines are fermented using indigenous yeasts. Itziar and Andoni believe in creating wines that reflect their distinct terruno."

"The Bakio region of Spain's Basque country was once the major wine producing areas of northern Spain. As Spanish wines' focus turned toward the red wines of regions such as Rioja and Priorat, this small, primarily white wine producing area started to fall into obscurity. In recent years a new-found interest in the various native wine styles of Spain has sparked interest in areas like Bakio and wines like txakolina. A trio of Bakio natives found this old winery and decided to work on bringing back the region's fabled past. The vineyards here are unique within the D.O. of Bizkaiko; the vines line the steep slopes of the Bakio valley that face toward the Atlantic Ocean. They grow native grapes varietals on the estate's 12 hectares: Hondarribi Zuri, Hondarribi Beltza and Mune Mahatsa. Made from 85% Hondarribi Zuri, 3% Hondarribi Beltza and 12% Mune Mahatsa, the Txakoli Gorrondona exhibits refreshing sensations of Basque sea breezes, it is slightly effervescent and very delicious. -Importer
