"Bright crimson-purple. The bouquet is very fragrant and pure, but underlines the question posed by the low alcohol: will the flavours be ripe? Well, it's on the cusp, but has so many good things going for it that it must get the benefit of the doubt. It is beautifully detailed, pure and harmonious, finishing with those dusty/earthy tannins unique to cabernet. Give it some time, as much as you can, up to 10 years." (07/12) |
Description:
"This wine has lifted aromas of sweet summer pudding fruits with heady plum and spice at the forefront. A medium weight palate delivers ripe red berries, plum and clove with savoury acids that lend length and complexity. Predominately seasoned oak has allowed this wine to draw on fruit expression above all else with fruit tannin and secondary oak to help structure the palate."
"Cabernet is considered by many in the Pyrenees to be the regions strongest performing variety. Our Broken Quartz Cabernet is sourced from the highest point in Block C. This fruit generally produces a wine that is ~13% alc/vol. This allows for an elegant wine in style with typical varietal and regional character." - Winery
Producer:
"Pyren Vineyard is a small-scale, family focused producer of cool-climate wines. We are located on the slopes of the picturesque Warrenmang valley, in The Pyrenees region of Victoria, Australia. Established in 1999 by the Joy family and partners, the 80 acre vineyard has consistently produced low, concentrated yields of high quality fruit." - Winery
This wine was also rated 88 Points by the International Wine Cellar and the Wine Spectator.
