90 Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The dry 2012 Botani, made from 100% Moscatel de Alexandria, has been adored by everyone I’ve served it to. Prior to this project, no one had used these grapes except for sweet wines. However, this is one of the most seductive and amazingly perfumed, flowery, dry whites in the world. Coming from decomposed slate and quartz soils of volcanic origin, this 2012 exhibits a sumptuous perfume of spring flowers, exotic fruits such as mango, pineapple, peach and apricot, and hits the palate with gorgeous fruit. While there may be a touch of residual sugar, it is not noticeable. Most of these wines last for nearly 70 years of age, so it’s amazing this 2012 Botani can be purchased for $17 a bottle."

"This pioneering project of the Ordonez family in Malaga reflects the visionary aspects of Jorge Ordonez and his family. Jorge Ordonez and his sister, Victoria, are behind this project, but one should not discount the influence and consulting work of Gerhart Kracher, a member of Austria’s well-known Kracher family. These amazing wines must be tasted to be believed." (11/13)

90 Pts Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media

"Green-tinged straw. Highly perfumed aromas of honeydew, peach and white flowers, with a spicy overtone. Lithe, penetrating melon and white peach flavors show very good clarity and expand with aeration. At once fleshy and precise, finishing with strong punch and a refreshingly bitter jolt of orange pith." (10/13)

Description:

Wine:
"Pale straw color. Fresh, fragrant and mature, brimming with the aroma of Muscat grape, apple, mandarin orange and a pinch of wilted flowers. On the palate it is fruity and dry, with notes of citrus and a gentle finish."

"The surprising originality of Botani is the fruit from a rigorous process of grape selection and the great care taken in the winemaking process. The grapes used in this wine come from the vines from Almachar that grow on the north-facing mountainous slopes. After manual harvesting, at the end of June or the beginning of August, the grapes are brought to the selection table before pressing." - Winery
