96 Pts Robert Whitley - Wine Review Online |
"The 2010 vintage shows off Grgich's deft hand with Cabernet Sauvignon, consistently among the finest in the Napa Valley in its price range. This one is rich in black fruit aroma, with cassis the dominant flavor. The wine is firmly structured and will age beautifully over the next 15 years. Elements of spice and oak vanillin are attractive accents to this gorgeous example of Napa Valley Cabernet." (10/13) |
91 Pts Wine Spectator |
"A wine that offers a tight, focused beam of loamy earth, dried dark berry, cedar, anise and espresso. Features good length, with gripping tannins. Shows Grgich Hills at the top of its Cabernet game. Best from 2015 through 2026. 14,290 cases made. -JL" (11/13) |
91 Pts Wine Enthusiast |
"This valley-wide blend comes from Yountville, Calistoga and Rutherford. It combines the best fruit of the appellations, resulting in a dry, full-bodied and tannic young wine, with classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon flavors of cassis. Beautiful now, after a few hours of decanting, and should hold in the bottle for at least eight years. -SH" (12/13) |
Description:
"We craft our Cabernet Sauvignon with minimal intervention, farming our vineyards naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides. This wine is packed with rich aromas of black cherry and licorice with a hint of mocha and vintage leather. Its full body and fine-grained tannins make it the perfect partner with grilled steak, rack of lamb or roasted duck." - Winery
Vineyard:
"Our Yountville vineyard forms the heart of our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, with our Rutherford and Calistoga vineyards rounding out the blend. We farm all of our vineyards naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides, and they are certified organic and Biodynamic. The result is a full-bodied, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with pure flavors and a pronounced sense of place." - Winery
Winemaker Notes:
"Cool and long sum up the 2010 growing season. Spring brought below average temperatures with above average rain, pushing back budbreak by two weeks. The cool temperatures continued into summer allowing for steady but slow grape ripening until a series of heat spikes brought welcomed warmth to ripen grapes to full maturity." - Winery
