You will get a confirmation from us when your order is confirmed.
You will get two emails from us with regards to your order. The first email from us only confirms that we received your order. The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. Description:
This 2-pack includes 1 bottle of 2009 - Center Of Effort Effort Pinot Noir, and 1 bottle of 2009 - Goubard Bourgogne Rouge Mont Avril.
2009 - Center Of Effort Effort Pinot Noir:
Wine:
"Aromatically pure Pinot Noir, showing a balance of ripe raspberry and earthy/spicy notes. Palate-feel belies the use of traditional whole-cluster fermentation, with a fine-grained tannin texture acting as a backdrop to ripe black fruit flavors. Complex and long - will evolve in the glass over the course of an evening."
"Effort is the companion label to our limited-edition Center of Effort wines. Each lot of the vintage is crafted in accordance with our vigilant standards of quality, all competing for the crown. However, only a handful of elite lots are ultimately designated for Center of Effort. What remains is our best EFFORT of the vintage. Stylistically, Effort wines exhibit a more approachable, fruit-forward style, bringing diversity and dimension to our portfolio."
"There is nothing expedient in our winemaking approach. We embrace the detailed, labor-intensive methods that are required to produce the finest wines. Even then, only a handful of elite lots from each vintage are ultimately deemed worthy for designation under the 'Center of Effort' label. The resulting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are, we believe, without parallel. They represent the intersection of caretaking, skill, and commitment - truly a 'Center of Effort'"- Winery
Winemaking:
"Our winemaking operations are led by Mike Sinor and Nathan Carlson, both veteran Edna Valley winemakers with longtime personal connections to the estate."
"Mike's first wine industry job was at the Lawrence estate, now home to Center of Effort. Over the past 15 years, he has dedicated himself to the mastery of Burgundian varietals, earning some of our region's highest ratings along the way. His continual quest for knowledge has taken him to France several times, where he gained immeasurable insights from some of Burgundy's top producers. At Center of Effort, Mike guides the stylistic direction of our wines."
"Nathan's winemaking experience in the Edna Valley spans more than 12 years. He has also made Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara County, Carneros, the Sonoma Coast and Oregon's Dundee Hills. His work with wine industry technical leaders has forged close ties with winemakers around the world. At Center of Effort, Nathan oversees our winemaking operations and manages the estate."
"Mike and Nathan became friends after frequently crossing paths in the Edna Valley. They now come full circle, back to our estate. Their expertise is instrumental in achieving the rigorous standards of quality and artistry that we demand in our wines." - Winery
2009 - Goubard Bourgogne Rouge Mont Avril:
"The 2009 Bourgogne Rouge Mont Avril (also aged in old oak) exhibits classic Pinot Noir characteristics of pomegranate, underbrush, herbs and tomato skins. While not terribly concentrated, it offers a medium-bodied, fresh, lively, inexpensive introduction to the world of Pinot Noir. Finding Burgundy for under $20 a bottle is virtually impossible, but Michel Goubard's offerings have long been staples of the Hand Picked Selection portfolio." (08/12) - 85 Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Wine/Winemaking:
"Produced on the Mount Avril in the clayey limestone, facing south. Mechanical and manual harvesting. Traditional vinification with maceration average 12 days with thermal regulation. 2 vintages: one in cement vats for 12 months, one in oak for 15 months."
"This fruity wine can be drank with all meats (red, poultry, meat in sauce, game) and cheese. Aging about 7 to 10 years." - Winery
Producer:
"From as far back as its presence known in Burgundy since the seventeenth century, the family Goubard has always been important in the production of Burgundy wines. At the heart of the Cote Chalonnaise, you can discover the gentle slopes of Mont Avril, as did Coutepee famous Burgundian writer, whom labels of the Domain honor. Winemakers from father to son, Michel now passes the baton to Pierre-Francois and Vincent. It is their responsibility now to continue the tradition of quality that has always prevailed in the area Goubard." - Winery
