Please note, orders are processed on a first come basis. If you leave the wine in your cart for even a few minutes it might have already sold out as our stock quantity is removed when you submit the order in final, not when you add it to your cart!

You will get two emails from us with regards to your order. The first email from us only confirms that we received your order. The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. Due to the high volume of sales there are times when the wine has sold out, but our system is still updating and shows it as available. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

92 Pts Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"No such problems exist for the 2008 La Casilla Vina Estrecha which was sourced from a separate parcel with tighter spacing. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it sports a super-fragrant aromatic array of underbrush, mineral, Asian spices, lavender, black cherry, and plum. Ripe, succulent, and plush on the palate, it has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and should provide much pleasure from 2012 to 2020."

"Bodegas y Vinedos Ponce farms biodynamically, producing wines from the indigenous variety Bobal." (04/10)

Description:

Wine:
"This single vineyard wine is made from a 1.2 hectare parcel of 74 year-old Bobal vines. The name 'Estrecha', which translates as 'narrow', refers to the density of the rows of vines, which helps to control the vigour of the vines, keeping yields naturally low. The soils are calcerous clay. No soil enrichment or irrigation take place, even though DO rules permit its use. Ground cover crops are grown and the soil is rarely ploughed; both of these measures keep the soil structure perfect for the type of farming undertaken. In the vast majority of years, not even sulphur is used in the vineyard and certainly no other treatments."

"Once the had-picked grapes arrive in the winery, they are left with stem and in whole bunches to macerate for between 10-15 days, the longest maceration period of any of the Ponce wines. This style of winemaking echoes the ancient 'remango' technique of La Rioja, which gives all of their wines a fruity Beaujolais-style, although much more intense. The tannins are incredibly fine and the aromatics protected and enhanced. After the grapes have been foot trodden, the wine goes straight into mainly old French 300l oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place. The wines are bottled unfiltered and unclarified in order not to lose any of the wonderful flavours. Only 2,000 bottles are made each year." - Importer

Winemaker:
"Young, up and coming winemaker Juan Antonio Ponce is a passionate advocate of the native grape variety, Bobal and learnt many of his skills from his father, who still works in the vines. Juan Antonio has studied and travelled extensively in France and, like his friend Daniel Jimenez Landi he has been seduced by the theories of biodynamics. Clos Lojen is a fresh example of Bobal grown in this way and is a great introduction to his wines. PF standing for Pie Franco is made solely from ungrafted vines from 65 to 85 years old, on limestone and sand. Pino is from a cool sited vineyard of 30 years which produces very elegant fruit. Finally the stronger more masculine Estrecha comes from a single limestone vineyard of 75 years. All stunning wines that should not be missed." - Importer
