Description:
This 2-pack includes 1 bottle of 2008 - Cicchitti Limitada Blend Edicion, and 1 bottle of 2010 - Zolo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
2008 - Cicchitti Limitada Blend Edicion:
"The 2008 Blend Edicion Limitada is composed of 40% Pinot Noir, 38% Sangiovese, and 22% Merlot, a unique concoction for Mendoza. It spent 10 months in French and American oak before bottling without fining and filtration. Enticing notes of cherry blossom, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, and black raspberry titillate the nose, pointing toward a medium-bodied, savory, spicy, incipiently complex wine with excellent balance and length. It is likely to evolve for 2-3 years but can be approached now."
"Bodega Cicchitti was founded in 1882 and uses only estate-grown fruit from its 240 acres in its wines. The wines are native yeast fermented and bottled without fining or filtration." (12/11) - 90 Pts Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Wine:
"Made from Estate grown Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Merlot. The vineyard is the Valle del Uco and Lujan and has 30 year old average vines. Vinification happens in small concrete tanks and aging takes place for 10 months in French barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered." - Importer
Cicchitti (Mendoza):
"Bodega Cicchitti was founded in 1982 in Guymallen, Mendoza, by Jose Antonio Cicchitti. Cicchitti uses grapes from its Estate only (240 acres). Yields are kept low."
"The grapes are carefully selected and handpicked into small cases of 30 pounds. Fermentation takes place in small concrete tanks. Only native yeasts are used."
"Jose Antonio manages to keep a surprising low profile in spite of the high quality of his wines." - Importer
This wine was also scored 88 Points by the International Wine Cellar, 85 Points by the Wine Enthusiast, and 75 Points by the Wine Spectator.
2010 - Zolo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon:
"The 2010 Zolo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a worthy follow-up to the 2009. It has a sedate, well-defined bouquet of kirsch, cranberry, raspberry and that gravel note. The palate is full-bodied and well-balanced with earthy ripe black fruit. It is a little broody, but draws you in, and the finish is powerful but wonderfully focused. This is a classy Cabernet. Drink 2013-2020+" (10/12) - 93 Pts Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Wine/Winemaking:
"Intense and deep ruby red color. Complex aromas with concentrated cassis nose, plums and berries. The time in barrels provide a delicate aroma of vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Balanced, long finish."
"We strive to achieve a Cabernet with powerful and complex aromas of cassis, plums, and red fruit, and hints of vanilla and caramel."
"The winemakers are Fabian Valenzuela & Jean Claude Berrouet (former winemaker at Petrus). Grapes come from San Pablo estate single vineyard, in Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Mendoza. The average age of the vines are 14 years old. A cold premaceration takes place (8 degrees C) for 5 days to extract color and aromas. Fermented in stainless steel tanks for approximately 15 days at 28 degrees C, then rests on the lees for 16 days. Aging takes place 12-14 months in French (95%) and American (5%) first and second use oak barrels." - Winery
Vineyards:
"The climate and soil of this property give special characteristics from high altitude vineyards (1350 meters above sea level / 4430 feet) to this variety differentiating it significantly from other traditional Cabernet Sauvignon." - Vineyard
This wine was also rated 88 Points by Wine Enthusiast and 86 Points by Wine Spectator.
