Description:
This 2-pack includes 1 bottle of 2010 - La Conseiller Bordeaux Superieur, and 1 bottle of 2010 - Chateau Poitevin.
2010 - La Conseiller Bordeaux Superieur
"Another wine from Jean-Philippe Janoueix, this essentially generic Bordeaux is dominated by lots of Merlot, given its mocha, espresso, sweet black cherry and plum notes. It has gorgeous texture, terrific purity, and a full-bodied, hedonistic, fleshy appeal. This is a sleeper of the vintage and a great value, best drunk in its first 7-8 years of life." (02/13) - 91 Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Winery:
"Chateau Le Conseiller is one of the best examples of how good low priced, value Bordeaux wine can be. Jean Philippe Jannoueix is making some of the best Bordeaux Superieur wines."
"The 27 hectare Bordeaux wine vineyard of Le Conseiller is situated in clay and alluvial soils. The Right Bank vineyard is planted a cepage of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with vines that are close to 40 years of age. For a Bordeaux value wine, Janoueix does a lot of work to make sure this is the best wine possible from Le Conseiller. For the vinification of Chateau Le Conseiller, they use a mixture of concrete tanks and stainless steel vats. During fermentation at Le Conseiller, they pump over 3 times a day. The wine of Chateau Le Conseiller are aged in a combination of 100% new oak barrels from France and America. Interestingly, they are one of the few Bordeaux estates that import American oak barrels. At Chateau Le Conseiller, for the barrels, Jannoueix uses 50% traditional shaped oak barrels and the remaining barrels are the cigar shaped barrels that Janoueix likes. These expensive oak barrels are in use at his top Right Bank estates in St. Emilion, Chateau La Confession and in Pomerol at Chateau La Croix St. Georges."
"All this effort and expense is clearly seen in the quality of the wine. If you're seeking a Bordeaux Superieur Bordeaux value wine that drink well on release, this is a great choice. It is not for aging. Chateau Le Conseiller is best enjoyed within a few years of release." - The Wine Cellar Insider
2010 - Chateau Poitevin:
"Alluring, with a polished structure that lets the smoldering bay leaf, anise, steeped plum and warm paving stone notes play out. Shows latent grip and solid depth. Best from 2014 through 2022. 160,000 cases made. -JM" (03/13) - 90 Pts Wine Spectator
"This has ripe and polished fruit, with hints of mint and new wood. A ripe blackberry flavor pushes through the firm tannins, and it should become more rich over the next 5-6 years. The vineyard is situated in the northern part of the Medoc appellation." (03/13) - 90 Pts Wine Enthusiast
Wine:
"Exceptional vintage. Well-balanced with a cherry robe. Round and robust at the same time, ripe fruits and vanilla wooded aromas. The Chateau Poitevin, cru bourgeois is the main wine. It represents the true Medoc with its traditions and passion of the winemaker. A wine to keep." - Winery
Vineyard/Winery:
"The vineyard Poitevin is now 41 hectares on vines denominated A.O.C. Medoc with the cround dominated by small gravel. The vineyard is tended with respect to the environnment and with the minimum use of chemicals."
"The winery uses modern equipment and observes extreme cleanliness in all stages of the winemaking. The winemaking is done according to the maturity of the grapes parcel by parcel. A selection to eliminate unsuitable grapes, and a cold pre-fermentation process takes place. In addition there is the knowlege and experience of the winemaker and his professional oenologue, Antoine Medeville. Together they are always looking for ways to improve the vinification process." - Winery
