Description:

This 2-pack includes 1 bottle of 2008 - Zanzibar Sandra Red, and 1 bottle of 2009 - Zonte's Footstep Baron Von Nemesis Shiraz.

2008 - Zanzibar Sandra Red
"A distinctive minerality, reminiscent of warm rain on flagstones, runs through the flavor profile of this elegant, refined and powerful red. Dark berry and licorice notes also come through as the finish persists. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2016. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 900 cases made." (08/11) - 92 Pts Wine Spectator

Wine:
"A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah from Columbia valley vineyards, grapes are hand harvested and undergo small batch whole berry fermentation and extended maceration to ensure the development of remarkable and supple structure and body. Malolactic fermentation is completed in 100% new French oak barrels, where the wine continues to age and mature for 12 months until it is bottled. It will then be cellared for the next 12 months before it is released." - Winery

Winery:
"ZanZibar Cellars is a small boutique winery dedicated to creating unique wines that reflect not only the passion and the vision of its founders but also the terroir of the Columbia and Yakima valleys. We believe that which separates good wine from great wine is the obsession with details and the strive for perfection. From our extremely low yields (1.5 - 2 tons/acre), to our small batch fermentation and gentle handling process, our cradling efforts are reflected in the quality of our handcrafted wines."

"We work tirelessly to create wines that are balanced yet exuberant, elegant yet powerful and unpredictably alive. Above all, our focus on high quality guides us in all of our decision making. We work closely with our vineyards to manage yields and closely monitor watering protocols to ensure the highest quality fruit. As Partners and friends, Ziad Keirouz and Glen Boyd collaborate on all aspects of the business. For over 20 years in the creative fields of Science and Engineering, both were fueled by the passion to succeed and create something unique. Today, the same drive and passion guide our work at ZanZibar Cellars. From selecting the best grapes and the best French oak barrels to making the wine and designing the packaging, everything is approached with the same level of precision and dedication to quality." -Winery

2009 - Zonte's Footstep Baron Von Nemesis Shiraz:
"Smooth and round, wrapped in a layer of fine tannins. The exotic flavors of cherry, guava, goji berry and tropical spices billow easily on the long finish. Best from 2014 through 2020. 100 cases imported." (05/12) - 92 Pts Wine Spectator

Wine:
"Barossa blood red - i.e. deep crimson with a purple hue. On the nose, super blackberries and pure unadulterated 99% Cocoa chocolate. Lifted blood plum and raspberries and some dark pepper and brambly spice smells. On the palate there are generous black fruits, like mulberries and boysenberries, a full and frank Shiraz start. Classic Barossa; generous, flavoursome and super sweet blackberry pie with dark, dry chocolate mouth feel. Sweet fruit then tightens up with fine fruit and oak tannin. Great flavour and composition. Sweet spice cuts through plus hints of jamminess. On the finish there is youthful austerity as you would expect from such a classic old school Shiraz, but there is also plenty of fineness to the tannin and dark chocolate nuances in the lengthy finish." - Winery

Producer:
"Zonte's Footstep is named after a 19th century Zante currant vineyard, as new plantings follow the original footstep. The currant business dried up, but Zonte's Footstep became our blueprint..."

"In 2003 we pooled old white utes and new-ish tractors to grow the best grapes from the best vineyards. All we want to do is taste our fruit in our wine, so we charged our reigning winemaker, Mr. Ben Riggs, with one goal; to make the best wines we can, true to vineyard and variety, so long as we make a bloody good drink!" - Winery
