95+ Pts Decanter

"Lush, vibrant black- and blueberry nose. Sleek and silky, concentrated, elegant acidity, lively aftertaste with lots of pepper on the finish. Classic Crozes - not too weighty or extracted but stylish and long (Stephen Brook). Rich raspberry coulis, vanilla and spice nose. Sweet fruit allowed full glorious expression behind the weight of extract and ripe tannins. A seductive and very appealing example of hedonists (Simon Field MW). Blackberry, floral and fennel perfume. Focused, juicy black fruit palate. Liquorice, chocolate and coffee on the finish. Good typicity of terroir, good energy and life (John Livingstone-Learmouth). Alc: 13.5%. Drink 2012-2019. " (02/13)

92 Pts Wine Spectator

"This mouthfilling red offers lush flavors of plum, blackberry and currant preserves, but is also sleek and long, with a charred mesquite edge and a lingering iron note that adds length and cut. Drink now through 2017. 2,750 cases made." (09/12)

91 Pts Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media

"Opaque ruby. Expressive aromas and flavors of blackberry, cherry-cola and licorice, with a bright mineral topnote. A sexy floral nuance emerges with aeration, along with a touch of cracked pepper. Ripe but lively, with excellent finishing thrust, clarity and length." (04/13)

90+ Pts Jeb Dunnuck - The Rhone Report

"The 2010 Gilles Robin Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Albéric Bouvet is a delicious Crozes-Hermitage that delivers a lot of bang for the buck. Showing ripe aromas and flavors of wild berry, smoked meats, saddle leather, and spice, it flows onto the palate with a pure, focused texture, medium+ body, and building richness that shows on the mid-palate and through the finish. A rocking value, enjoy bottles over the coming 5-8 years." (03/13)

Description:

Wine:
"This cuvee is elaborated solely with old vines from the major terroirs of the Estate (Rochas, Monico, Terres rouges). The blending is firstly based on Syrah grapes whose early maturity brings feminity and spices to this civilized Syrah wine. This cuvee includes another Syrah style, more rustic, with ripe fruits and elegant tannins, which blends ideally with the first one. Finally, a deeper Syrah style, red fruits gorged, completes ideally Alberic Bouvet which, during its ageing, will give the pleasure of a noble Syrah, deep with a unique character. The revelation of the nicest terroirs from Gilles Robin Estate and the blending of every Syrah style are key to this cuvee." - Winery

Gilles Robin:
"Vines have always been his passion, Syrah is his favourite grape. "The art of blending Syrah styles sublimate the wines from our terroirs", says Gilles. "Syrah grapes have an extraordinary capacity of adaptation and thus are able to express themselves in different ways. To each terroir a revelation"."

"So Syrah would be perfectible. Born in 1971, Gilles always supervised the work in the vineyards with his father. After studies in winemaking, he consulted wine properties to enlarge his knowledge from his father's estate. Then, in 1996, he decided to take over the estate in order to bring a modern approach. He set himself two objectives. First, he invested heavily in the vineyards and has set new techniques which are mainly based on a natural viticulture, respectful of the environment. Secondly, he wanted to value the quality of the harvest with selective sorting, gravity systems and a work based on natural yeasts."

"Vinification per plot, which gives to each terroir the ability to reveal its own particularities, became an essential approach to the modernisation brought by Gilles. His contemporary approach of the work started in 1920 by the previous generation makes Gilles Robin Estate one of the best rated domain in Rhone Valley." - Winery
