"The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape St.-Georges possesses magnificent fruit in addition to a skyscraper-like mouthfeel, majestic richness, a layered texture, phenomenal purity and a classic style displaying plenty of bouquet garni, licorice, seaweed, cassis and kirsch characteristics. This sensational 2010 is soft enough to be drunk now, but will be even better with 2-3 years of cellaring. It should last for two decades." |
96+ Pts Jeb Dunnuck - The Rhone Report |
"Getting a big "Wow" from me, the spectacular 2010 Domaine Galevan Chateauneuf-du-Pape St. Georges is a blend of 100% Grenache that comes all from 96+ year old vines. One of the top wines of the vintage, it has an incredible bouquet of blackberry liqueur, licorice, assorted flowers, and roasted meats that gives way to a full-bodied, massively built palate that has nothing out of place, a seamless texture, beautiful freshness, and masses of polished tannin emerging on the finish. Taking the better part of a day to open up and even better on day two, this knockout Chateauneuf-du-Pape needs 4-5 years of bottle age, and will totally thrill for 15+ years or more. Don't miss this!" (03/12) |
Description:
Winemaker/Winery:
"Coralie Goumarre represents the 9th generation of her family to make wine, and the first woman to take full responsibility for Domaine Galevan. This consists of 49 ha of vines, including 2 in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate is located on the outskirts of Courthezon on the road to Vaison La Romaine."
"Domaine Galevan produces one red and one white Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The red is made from 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre. The grapes are de-stemmed and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 10-15 months." - The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Wine Book, Harry Karis
