"This may be the best release of Tres Bagos yet, a blend from a group of independent quintas that joined forces in 1999 and share a technical team led by Paolo Ruao. What's impressive about it is the textural integrity, the integration of succulent plum flavors and a landslide of schist tannins mellowed through oak aging. It contrasts fresh floral scents of violets, rose and esteva with mature hints of leather, adding to the overall sense of richness. For partridge or other roast game." (04/12) |
89 Pts Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate |
"The 2007 TINTO 'TRES BAGOS' is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, and is quite lovely. Elegant and graceful, with the mid-palate fruit wrapping around the moderate tannins, this crisp and sunny wine seems very classy, if a little reticent and restrained. It is a very nice value point in this lineup that should age well and develop a little complexity, too. Drink now-2019." |
Description:
"The wine is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca. The grapes come from a mix of vineyards from the various partner families in Cima Corgo, Baixa Corgo and Douro Superior. This is what the name Tres Bagos refers to: a blend of the 3 sub zones. The grapes are hand harvested, and come from Guyot trained vines. It's fermented in stainless steel vats, and aged for 8 months using French barrels. The wine is very lush, clean and full of ripe fruit typical of the Douro that reminds you of blackberry and black plum. It is very elegant and silky. The palate is fresh and full of flavor." - Importer
The Winery:

"Whenever a single "quinta" shows top performance, a "single quinta" wine is produced. Mainstream blends, such as "Tres Bagos", "Cheda" and "Douro" are, nevertheless serious proposals of Lavradores de Feitoria. Each brand has in fact keen supporters and fans, always showing the best the Douro Valley can give." - Winery
