2009 - I Giusti & Zanza Belcore
"Full and velvety, with pretty strawberry and blueberries with just a hint of vanilla bean. The texture and finesse to this wine is beautiful. Drink now but better in 2012. Sangiovese and Merlot." (12/11) - 92 Pts James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com
"Though firm and youthful now, this red boasts a core of blackberry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavors. The juicy texture offsets the tannins, and the aftertaste echoes sweet fruit. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2013 through 2023." (10/11) - 91 Pts Wine Spectator
"Belcore is an 80-20 blend of Sangiovese and Merlot that opens with bright cherry and forest fruit and delicate nuances of vanilla seed and spice. It's silky and smooth but not without drive and character. -M.L." (02/12) - 90 Pts Wine Enthusiast
WINE:
"I.G.T. Toscano Rosso. This wine is a blend of Sangiovese 80% and Merlot 20%. This was aged in 300 liter French tonneaux for about eight months, followed by six months in bottle before the release on the market."
"Intense purple color tending to violet. The palate bursts with attractive violet and blackberry notes followed by a long, substantial finish." -Winery
WINERY:
"We are a little Estate in the north west of Tuscany not far from the sea. Our Estate and vineyards lie in a sunny position upon mellow hills on the left bank of Arno river, just before it reaches the sea. The Estate is situated between Pisa, Livorno and the Tirreno Sea. In this way it benefits of the positive climatic influences of the coast." -Winery
2009 - Carpineta Fontalpino Do Ut Des
"This is very fruity, with lots of berry, chocolate and cherry character. Some new wood too. Full body, with soft and velvety tannins and a fruity finish. This wine is so luscious. Made from organic grapes. Drink now." (09/11) - 93 Pts James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com
"Dark and extracted, yet the tannins cover the black cherry, plum and chocolate flavors for now. Chewy in texture, this is for fans of the modern style. Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2013 through 2022. -BS" (10/11) - 90 Pts Wine Spectator
ESTATE:
"CARPINETA FONTALPINO has been for the past 20 years one of the leading producers in the southern part of the Chianti Classico region. The Montaperti area (next to Berardenga) is famous for producing very masculine, rustic and powerful Sangiovese. The owners Gioia & Filippo Cresti along with "Top Rated winemaker" Carlo Ferrini, created a range of wines traditionally made with innovative character. 15 years ago they planted unknown varieties in Tuscany such as Petit Verdot, Alicante and Gamay getting back fantastic results." -Importer
VITICULTURE & VINIFICATION:
"The CARPINETA FONTALPINO vineyard has been owned by the CRESTI family since the 1960's, and you find traces of the wine producing traditions dating back to the beginning of the past century. (1800) The vineyard is located in the heart of Tuscany, very close to the splendid city of Siena and the historical municipal of Castelnuovo Berardenga into historic place of Montaperti. The surrounding territory is rich in history, legends and love. Passed on to those who are fortunate to visit it, through strong emotions and its unforgettable atmosphere. We have the honour and privilege to live here and we strive to maintain the unaltered countryside and its traditions."
"We are very proud to be part of such a generous area, which never ceases to surprise.Gioia is the vineyard's oenologist and is responsible for all the production phases, from wine making to the aging, choosing the best grapes and bestowing to the whole production her own personal style. Filippo is mainly involved in the productive part and organization of the countryside and also the commercial and marketing development side of the business. The property extends to about 80 hectares and presents various cultivar. The area planted with vines extends to about 23 hectares of specialized vines, sub-divided into grape types of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and other experimental vines (petit verdot, alicante etc). The production areas are Chianti Classico and Colle Senesi." -Winery
