"A beauty, the 2011 Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a blend of equal parts Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, and Bourboulenc that was aged 10% in barrel. Fresh, pure, and crisp, with knockout aromas of lemon rind, juiced pear, citrus, and wet stone minerality, this medium bodied white hits the palate with a rich, fleshy texture and brilliant focus and delineation. Drink it over the coming 3-5 years." (09/12) |

"Ripe but nicely focused, this white displays tangerine and nectarine notes along the edges, lending a racy hint to the peach and yellow apple fruit flavors. There's good cut on the finish. Drink now through 2013. 1,200 cases made. -JM" (10/12) |
Description:
"25% Grenache Blanc, 25% Roussanne, 25% Bourbelenc, 25% Clairette. 5% of the Roussanne is fermented in new oak for 6 weeks, then aged in stainless steel. No malo. It's uncommon to find Bourboulenc in a Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc. Alexandre likes it in the blend because it tends to have lower alcohol than the other grapes and brings acidity and balance to the wine. Chante Cigales takes their white Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc seriously as it's approximately 20% of their total production - possibly the highest percentage of white made by any Chateauneuf producer!" -Importer
