Description:

2009 Sette Ponti Oreno:
"Currants, blueberries and mint on the nose. Full body, with velvety tannins and juicy fruit. Tannic now, but will soften with age. Lots going on here. Very close to the superb 2008. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Try after 2013." 95 Pts - James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com (09/11)

"The 2009 Oreno is stunning. Layers of soft, well-articulated fruit caress the palate in this sweeping, dramatic wine. There is tons of depth, freshness and vitality in the glass, not to mention terrific overall balance. Sweet flowers, spices and licorice wrap around the seamless, captivating finish. Oreno is one of Italy's most improved wines. The 2009, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, represents another move in the right direction. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029." 94+ Pts - Antonio Galloni - The Wine Advocate (08/11)

"A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese, this grows in calcareous soils mixed with clay northwest of Arezzo, then ages in French oak. It's ripe and intense, a sleek wine with black plum and floral strawberry scents, this has minerality to the tannin that sustains a clear Tuscan identity. It sits lightly for such a rich wine, suited to five or six years of cellaring." 93 points Wine & Spirits (04/12)

"This seems extracted, with density to its black currant, blackberry and spice flavors. Though rich and ripe, there's a steely backbone and firm, refined tannins for support. Lingers with dark fruit and spice, with a hint of mineral. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2013 through 2022. 3,500 cases imported. -BS" 90 points Wine Spectator (10/11)

2008 Cortese Barbaresco Rabaja:
"The 2008 Barbaresco Rabaja is without question one of the wines of the vintage in this irregular year. It flows with deep layers of menthol, licorice and spices, showing tons of power. This is a dazzling wine endowed with marvelous inner perfume, great richness and huge staying power on the palate. Today it is still quite primary and in need of at least several years of cellaring. Tobacco, licorice and menthol wrap around the palate on the intense finish. The 2008 is a stunning Rabaja from Cortese. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024." 94 Pts - Antonio Galloni - The Wine Advocate (10/11)

"(aged for 22 months in big barrels, none new): Good full medium red. The nose offers a tight core of sour cherry, redcurrant, mint, menthol and flowers. Taut rather than fleshy, with penetrating acidity contributing to an impression of energy. The firm tannic spine of this perfumed midweight calls for at least five years of patience." 91 Pts - Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar (11/11)

"A pretty red, this evokes flowers, strawberry and raspberry, with an underlying mineral current. Firmly structured, with precision and a long aftertaste of fruit and mineral. Best from 2014 through 2027. 1,000 cases made. -BS" 91 Pts Wine Spectator (12/11)

"Subtle aromas of sliced strawberries and flowers with hints of citrus. Full body, with bright acidity and a clean finish. So delicious now but better in 2013." 91 Pts - James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com (09/11)

"Of particular interest is the fullness and generosity of this lovely Barbaresco cru expression. Ripe red fruit and plum notes are backed by black olive, licorice powder and a tightly astringent finish. Age this wine 5–10 more years and pair it with game hen and black truffles. -ML" 90 points Wine Enthusiast (09/11)

2004 Ardente Grande Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon:
"The warm vintage worked in this wine's favor, ripening the grapes to blackberry and black currant fruitiness, while preserving the dryness and fine tannins of Atlas Peak. At the age of more than six years, it still remains rather tough and resistant. Considering its mountain origins, it should slowly develop additional bottle complexity over the next 6-8 years." 92 Pts Wine Enthusiast (05/11)
