91 Pts International Wine Review

"The Duorum 2008 Colheita is a blend of Touriga Nacional (40%), Touriga Franca (40%), and Tinta Roriz (20%). Aged for 12 months in 80% new oak, it is dark ruby to the core with ripe black fruit, violets, and earthy aromas. Rich and concentrated, it displays layers of black and red fruit that linger on the palate with herbal notes. This is a big wine from the lower slopes of the Douro Superior blended with some higher altitude Touriga Nacional." 91 Points - International Wine Review

"A juicy, muscular style, with chewy flavors of red currant and plum, which feature accents of raspberry and spice. The condensed finish of mineral and white pepper is pure-tasting and refreshing. Best from 2012 through 2018." 90 Points - Wine Spectator

VINIFICATION:
"Part of the grapes for this COLHEITA wine are crushed in stainless steel lagares (troughs) by robotized treading and the remaining is de-stemmed and crushed. In both cases the crushed grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature of 28o C, following a post-fermentative maceration. Maturation / Elevage in French and in a small quantity of American oak barrels of 225 litres for approximately six months." -Winemaker

ESTATE:
"The name Duorum, which is Latin for “from two,” captures the spirit of this renowned Portguese winery. The perfect union of unparalleled talent and unique terroir, Duorum is widely recognized as a gold standard for Portuguese wines. With over three generations of history between their families, internationally acclaimed oenologists João Portugal Ramos and José Soares Franco both graduated from El Instituto Superior de Agronomia (Higher Institute of Agronomy) in 1977."

"Upon graduating with degrees in agronomy, both gentlemen received work placements at the National Winegrowing Station at Dois Portos from 1977 to 1978. In the thirty years that followed, João and José have left an indelible mark on the industry, both domestically and internationally. Seeking to combine their superior skills and passion for winemaking, João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco founded Duorum in 2007."

"By combining the best qualities of the Douro & Alentejo, two of Portugal’s most celebrated wine regions, Duorum has consistently produced wines of exceptional style and quality." -Importer
