Description:
2005 Fontanafredda Barolo Serralunga:
"Raspberry, mineral and licorice aromas follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a fruity finish. Balanced and friendly. Best after 2010. 10,000 cases made." 90 Points - Wine Spectator
WINE:
"This wine is 100% Nebbiolo. The soil is calcareous with sand and clay and the elevation is 300-400 meters high. Fermentation is done in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 15 days. This is aged for 1 year in French Allier oak barrique and 1 year in Allier oak casks, with 8-10 months in bottle. This Barolo has a garnet-red with ruby highlights that take on a slightly orange tone over time, it has a clear-cut, intense nose with overtones of vanilla, spices, withered roses and underbrush; its taste is dry, but soft, full-bodied, velvety and well-balanced, and is very long-lasting." -Importer
This wine was also scored 89 Points by Antonio Galloni of the Wine Advocate.
2004 Colle Dei Venti Barolo :
"This offers very, very ripe fruit on the nose, with meat, light raisin and dried flowers. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a persistent finish. A little hollow midpalate. Best after 2010. 400 cases made. -JS" -89 Points - Wine Spectator
WINE:
"The premier wine of Piemonte, Barolo is known as âthe wine of kings, and the king of winesâ. This well-structured and elegant wine showcases the Nebbiolo grape at its very best. A masterpiece of balance and harmony. A true expression of terroir and Nebbiolo varietal character. In the glass, it is a ruby red color with mahogany edges typical of Nebbiolo and a rich bouquet of rose and spice. An overall austere wine with silky smooth dense tannins, which emphasizes its long life and aging potential." -Importer
ESTATE:
"These elegant and approachable wines come from the family estate in Castiglione Tinella. Here famed enologist Claudio Icardi creates noteworthy and critically acclaimed wines. Working in concert, enologist Ornella Cordara meticulously selects and blends the cuvée to produce the wines of Colle dei Venti. These fruit-driven yet age-worthy wines are made from the yield of vineyards covering 60 hectares in the gently rolling Langhe and Monferrato hills. The varied terrain and numerous microclimates allow Ornella to demonstrate her carefully articulated plan to vinify very ripe grapes while judiciously employing new oak to produce consistent wines of distinction." -Importer
