90 Pts Wine Spectator |
"A mix of mineral and spice as much as apple and black currant flavors, this white rides a beam of acidity to a lingering finish. This is on the severe side now, but intense and satisfying. Drink now through 2020. 1,775 cases made." -90 Points Wine Spectator |
Description:
ESTATE:
"Annegret Reh-Gartner highly esteems the mineral-rich, filigree style so typical of the wines of all three river valleys. She is thoroughly convinced that no other region can compete with this delicacy and mineral character. For years she has strived with heart and soul to produce top-quality, dry wines with aging potential."
"Particularly with the climate changes in recent years, the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer valleys have the potential to produce excellent dry wines whose brilliance lies not in their alcohol content, but in their elegance and mineral structure. Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is one of the regionââ¬â¢s first estates to successfully offer Grosse Gewächse (great growths). In addition, Annegret Reh-Gartner is a firm advocate of vineyard classification (VDP), which makes it possible to implement perfect quality management in the vineyard, and cultivate individual parcels with the goal of producing exceptional wines." -Winery
VINEYARD:
"The steep, rocky vineyard "Goldtröpfchen", meaning 'little gold drop', located above the romantic wine village of Piesport is one of the best known sites along the Moselle. Due to the extreme bend of the Moselle, this vineyard has a shape like an amphitheater opening to the south. The vineyard is located southeast to southwest and has an enormous incline of 60ð with light gray slate weathered soil."
"The vineyard's natural conditions create very mineral driven wines with an exciting fruit and a playful elegance. Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt owns 4.5 hectare of this famous site." -Winemaker
