"Strawberry pie aromas, with lemon peel underneath. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. This is focused and concentrated for the vintage. Chewy. Best after 2013. 700 cases made." (07/09)

Description:

WINE:
"Very deep ruby-red; fresh nose, with hints of red berries steeped in delicate vanilla; dry, full taste, packed with body and structure lengthy ageing. The somewhat different soils, exposures and microclimates of the Preda and Sarmassa vineyards combine to produce a well-balanced, harmonious wine packed with the fresh, elegant aromas supplied by La Preda, and the full body and structure catered for by Sarmassa. " -Importer

VINIFICATION:
"Crushing and de-stemming, maceration on the skins for approx. 12-15 days at a maximum temperature of 29-31 degrees Celsius. After drawing off and the first rackings, the wine is aged in Slavonian oak casks and small 500-litre barrels made of new French oak (Allier) for around 2 years. It completes its maturation in stainless steel, prior to bottling without filtration; the bottles are then stored lying down for at least 6 months before labelling and shipping. Alc.by vol. : 14.50 vol. Total acidity : 5.86 g/l. Dry extract: 25,60 g/l." -Winemaker

ESTATE:
"Lodovico Borgogno's family lives and works here in Barolo, on their "Borgognot" estate. The family has owned vineyards in Barolo since 1720, and have always attached particular importance to the work carried out in the vineyards themselves and the selection of only the best grapes. The passion for these hills carried over to Lodovico's daughter, Virna, who today works alongside her father in every step of the production, with a sole objective: to constantly uphold and enhance the quality of Barolo and their other wines by highlighting their innermost nuances."

"The estate's wines are produced from grapes grown on its 20 acres located in historic Barolo "crus": Cannubi Boschis, Preda, Sarmassa, I Merli, San Giovanni, and Costa delle Rose. Tradition and technology come together in the winery under the watchful eye of Virna and her husband Gianni Abrigo, both specialized in both the growing of vines and the making of wines. Together they also run a farm - Azienda Agricola Orlando Abrigo - in the village of Treiso, where Barbaresco is produced. The entire process, from the vine to the glass, is followed with scrupulous attention to detail in order to provide genuine wines of outstanding value." -Winery
