90 Pts Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2008 Egia Enea Txakolina is sourced from a single vineyard within the sub-zone of Biskaia. Medium straw-colored, it reveals an expressive nose of mineral, lime, melon, and petrol. Smooth textured, bracing, and racy on the palate, this flavorful effort will drink well over the next two years." -Wine Advocate

"Enea Egia vineyard is located in the same place as the old medieval Basque vineyards, on a hillside with a privileged microclimate in the difficult terrain of the Basque Country. They use the principal variety, "Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia"- a finer variety than the typical "Hondarrabi Zuri" of the Txakoli because of the small size of the berries. "Egia Enea" in Euskera (Basque language- the most ancient language of Europe) signifies Egia's Domain, Property, etc. Egia is the surname of the proprietor, grower and winemaker- Alfredo Egia."

"This wine is made from 80% Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia and 20% Hondarrabi Zuri. The fruit is sourced from the estate vineyard in Balmaseda; yields are only 60% of standard output. The soil is limestone based and is 225 meters high. The wine spends 5 months in 5000l stainless steel." -Importer

This wine also scored 89 points in the International Wine Cellar.
