The 2004 Ladera Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley in California and the ABV is 14.5%. The 2008 Amisfield Pinot Noir is 100% Pinot Noir from Central Otago in New Zealand and the ABV is 14%.

"A rustic yet smooth and harmonious style, with dusty berry, mineral, sage and herb scents that form a complex core of flavors. There's good intensity, and the tannins are in check. "Deep ruby-red. Cassis, black cherry and menthol on the pure, slightly medicinal nose. Dense, sweet and pure, with lovely delineation and depth to the flavors of dark berries, bitter chocolate and mint. Chewy but pliant. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins and very good length. HOWELL MOUNTAIN:
"Look northeast from the town of St Helena, and youâll see the west facing slopes of Howell Mountain rising high above the Napa Valley floor along the eastern side of the Silverado Trail. Laderaâs Howell Mountain vineyard sits across the broad summit of a ridge of that mountain, and in spite of altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 1,800 feet, the terrain is rolling and gentle."
"Itâs a scene that looks remarkably peaceful for a mountain with a volcanic past. The volcanic soils are evident, however, in the deep red color of the soil that is part of the magic of Howell Mountain. The valley fog doesnât reach these elevations, but in spite of full days of sunlight, high temperatures at this altitude are cooler than those at the valley floor. While fruit development lags behind the valley floor in the early part of the year, we catch up in ripeness later in the year when we are bathed in sunlight and the valley floor is still covered in Pacific fog."
