Consultant winemaker Carlo Vittori started Sant'Antimo in the early 1980's, starting off as one of the original producers of Brunello before the major success of the region. Vittori chose the locations for growing Sangiovese Grosso based on the extensive warmth of the growing season in the province matched with cooling influences from the nearby Mount Amiata and Orcia river. This cooling factor has become paramount now more than ever in the production of balanced wines at Sant'Antimo of structure and freshness.
This incredible offer by Sant'Antimo is everything you want with in a Super Tuscan at this price. From vineyards at 250 meter elevation, this wine is packed with notes of red cherry, dried strawberries, plum accented beautifully with cedar and spice. Mostly Sangiovese Grosso, there is a touch of Merlot added to provide plush texture and fruit character.
"An ideal altitude, an excellent exposition and characteristics of galestrosi land, give life to this wine which is bottles after 12 months after it has been produced. It has the uncommon characteristics of dryness and fullness of body couplet with a well structured fruity bouquet. Asso, produced from Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, represents a promise which exceed the expectation." - Winery
