94 Pts Jeb Dunnuck - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A significantly different blend from the 2012, which was over 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 Camerata checks in as 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot & 10% Petit Verdot, which like the Bel Canto spent 23 months in 50% new French oak. Possessing a fabulous bouquet of black currants, toasted spice, licorice & wild herbs, this full-bodied 2013 is concentrated, incredibly elegant & textured, with ripe tannin & a balanced, layered style that will evolve gracefully. It should be at its best from 2020-2033.

93 Pts International Wine Report

Sourced from the Cara Mia Vineyard in Red Mountain, this wine is a compelling blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, & 10% Petit Verdot. The 'Camerata' is Cadence's Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend. The blackberry & black cherry aromas jump out of the glass. On the palate, it shows proper balance of dark fruit, bell pepper & cooking spices. Like it’s vineyard cousin (Bel Canto), the Camerata beautifully expresses the Red Mountain terroir, showing it can compete with any region in the world. This is an excellent example of winemaking, which lets the grapes & terroir beautifully show themselves; as its name 'Camerata' implies, all the components work well together. Overall this is a fantastic wine which has the potential to cellar for beyond a decade. (Best 2017-2032) - July, 2017 (OB)

Description:

Cadence winery, and Camerata, is the work of Ben Smith, one of the foremost winemakers in Washington.

Ben has pulled together fruit from a variety of sources to create extremely high quality Bordeaux style blends from WA's ideal microclimates and terroir.

Camerata sources its fruit all from Cadence's estate vineyard Cara Mia Vineyard located on Red Mountain. The terroir of larger stones, clay and basalt add insane levels of complexity here as well as providing ideal drainage.

The wine itself shows pedigree and class with wonderfully well balanced and smooth palate complemented by delicious aromatics and spice notes. Here you get a chance to taste a mature vintage that has really integrated together.

"Spices leap out of the glass, followed by crushed red fruit and graphite. This is as aromatic as any young Camerata has ever been. Red and black fruit interplay on the palate with more minerality and spice weaving in and out of the fruit framework. This is deep, intense and energetic. Fine tannins rise through the finish, leaving an impression long after the sip is done." - B. Smith
