"The 2013 Andretta Barolo is a lovely showing which opens to pretty aromas of fresh strawberries and red berries, which are woven together with eucalyptus, spices, floral and wet stones all taking shape. On the palate this is medium-bodied with fine tannins which are well polished. The underlying acidity keeps this fresh, juicy and inviting through the finish. While this is already quite accessible, it should become even more appealing as it softens and gains complexity over the next few years. (Best 2018-2026) - October, 2017 (JD)" |
Description:
Barolo is a small town in Piedmont where some of the best Nebbiolo in the world is grown. It has a ton of tannins and a very high level of acid, which is good for two things - food and aging. While we would say most Barolos need some time to settle in the bottle, this one is slightly more approachable at a young age.
Open it now and give it some time to breathe and settle in and you will find this is the perfect red wine for pasta dishes, pork, cheese and cured meats. The acid and tannins allow it to be extremely versatile. It is a red wine you can put on the table and not be afraid it won't go with everything your serving.
Just a reminder about the vintage, 2013 was one of the best in recent past. It is the vintage you will want to stock up on and keep revisiting as they age in your cellar. Barolo at this price is so rare, so snag as many as you can!
