"Bright ripe red berries, tea and bracken lead to a palate that has smoothly rendered tannins and vibrant red-berry flavors. Delicious now. Drink or hold. "
"Whatever your budget â under $25, under $50, under $100 â no region in the world comes close to matching Bordeaux for pedigreed red wines that are also relatively easy to find. " - Antonio Galloni in his most recent article on 2015 Bordeaux.
We couldn't agree more. In fact, we feel this wine is one of the reasons why every single red wine lover who buys wine in the $19.99 price point should literally ... go all in ... on 2015 Bordeaux.
In our search to find more of the legendary values from the outstanding 2015 vintage in Bordeaux, we just tasted one of the first wines in the under $20 price point that really blew us away.
We discovered the 2015 Chateau Les Grands Chenes Medoc 2015. The wine is from Bernard Magrez and is, in one word, intense.
The vineyard has been planted around an ancient fortress dating back from the 16th century, in the town of St Christoly du Medoc. The area became very dynamic thanks to the increasing business activities of the Port with foreign countries. Add in the fact that the Consulting Enologist here is Michel Rolland and you've got just one more indication that this is a truly amazing wine for just $19.99 per bottle!
For those of you who bought big on the "value" wines from 2000, 2005, 2009 and 2010 in Bordeaux ... it's time to start doing so again. This time ... with 2015. This wine is the perfect example of that!
