90 Pts Jeb Dunnuck - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Showing better from bottle than barrel, the 2012 Cornas is outstanding. Seeing 16-18 months in 50% new barrels, it offers lots of Cornas style in its saddle leather, herbs, spice and sweet black cherry and black raspberry fruit profile. Coming from the Chez Favier lieu-dit and 70-year-old vines, drink this medium to full-bodied, supple, balanced Cornas over the coming 7-8 years."
" The wines produced from the warm granite slopes of the Cornas appellation are well-structured with good aging potential.
Pierre Gaillard studied Viticulture and Enology in Beaune, and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Winemaking from Montpellier. He bought his first parcel of land in 1981 which was called Clos de Cuminailles, located in Malleval. It was there in the upper part of the medieval town of Malleval that Gaillard established his business. In 2002, he created the estate of Madeloc in Banyuls-sur-Mer, followed by the estate of Cottebrune in Faugères in 2007. Today, Gaillard manages a total of 77 hectares.
The vineyard is located in the northern part of the Rhone Valley, ranging from Cote-Rotie down through to Cornas in the South. Planted on steep slopes, the vines are located on the last foothills of the Massif Central." - Importer
