"Aged in botte grande for one year, the 2010 Nero dâAvola Schietto is a very quirky and unpredictable wine that will not appeal to everyone. Some may find its grand boldness problematic as well as the overwhelming nature of its aromas. The bouquet opens to candied cherry, Asian spice, church incense, wet earth, and espresso syrup. The mouthfeel is extremely thick and opulent. It will be interesting to see where the wine's evolution takes it three to four years from now. Drink 2015-2020. "

"'Schietto' is a line of single-varietal wines. The word means 'sincere, straightforward' and Francesco Spadafora aims at bringing through the best possible representation of each varietal.

"Nero d'Avola 'Schietto' is a reserve bottling made with 100% certified organic grapes. Vinified in cement vats, only 50% of the wine sees large oak barrels for 12 months, the rest ages in stainless steel. Rich, ruby red in color. The bouquet opens with wild berries, with enveloping and penetrating aromatic persistence. The mouthfeel is thick and opulent. A bold wine that is best served with meat dishes, roasts and non-spicy cheese." - Importer
