"The 2011 Chianti Rufina is a tasty red wine that makes a great first impression. This is a very detail-oriented expression that shows fine points of dusty minerality, pencil shavings and crushed brimstone. Red-fruit layers add an attractive sense of tension and energy that accompanies the wine over the palate. It's one of my personal favorites thanks also to the sheer silkiness of its texture. This is an excellent value. In the 1950s, Fattoria di Grignano was one of the biggest properties in the Florence area with huge acreage dedicated to vineyards and an enormous hunting reserve. Today, the property is still impressively sizable with some 600 hectares spread over 47 individual sites (or "poderi" in Italian). There is also a stunning villa that creates the architectural center stage for this historic property. In 1972, the estate was purchased by the Inghirami family that made its fortune in the fashion industry. Interestingly, my favorite wine from this line-up is the base Chianti Rufina." |

Three reasons to stock up by the case:
1) - Just read that glowing review! If there is still anyone out there that doesn't think great wine in the $15 and under price point can be found ... wait until you try this!!
2) - Perfect for the summer! While white wine is always a popular choice, medium-bodied red wines like this that have that extra silkiness factor to them are always highly sought after. This is a perfect example of that!
3) - The ultimate Pizza, Pasta and Burger wine!! This is priced to enjoy with just about anything ... on any night of the week. Keeping a case of this or two around the house will be well worth it!!
