"Comprised of mostly Grenache, yet with roughly 20% each of Cinsault and Syrah, the 2012 Coteaux du Languedoc Terrasses du Larzac Les Maros comes from old vines and is brought up in a combination of larger, older barrels and concrete tank. It's a gorgeous effort the offers up terrific notes of kirsch liqueur, sweet currants, Provencal herbs, leather and subtle spice. Medium to full-bodied, supple, textured and beautifully balanced, it's a knockout, character filled bottle of wine to drink over the coming 4-5 years." Reviewed April 2015.

Description:

"The wine is named after the site of an old parcel of Grenache on schist based land. Schist terroirs are rare, which is what makes them so special. The vines' roots plunge deep into the well drained stony layers ensuring wines with delicate, silky tannins.

"The blend of Oeillade (a grape thatâs nearly disappeared), Cinsault and Carignan ensure itâs a delightfully fresh and truly unique wine.

"Truly seductive, its open, smooth, brilliantly fresh and ends delightfully long. Itâs truly mouthwatering, delicate, with fine tannins, the aromatic pallette enhances the pleasure with cherries, plums, tobacco and dried flowers. A wine of great finesse!
