"This 85/15 blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Musque is a deeply colored, stony wine showing good acidity and freshness with lovely, rich ripe citrus aromas and flavors. Made from very low-yielding, 2 tons/acre, grapes that are whole cluster pressed and fermented in concrete eggs. A unique and delicious Sauvignon Blanc."

Description:

I-Winereview
"Robert Mark Kamen is producing some of Sonoma County’s finest mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon from his rugged 280 acre Kamen Estate situated in the Sonoma Mountains. While at first Kamen sold its fruit to other growers, after a devastating fire in 1996 and a replanting of half of his vineyard with different clones and rootstocks, Mark released his first of many outstanding Kamen Estate Cabernet Sauvignons. The Kashmir Cuvee, Kamen’s extraordinary small production of the best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon followed, as did Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. We had the pleasure of tasting the wines with the Kamen team in their magnificent mountain vineyard"

Winemaker's Tasting Notes

"This concentrated Sauvignon Blanc has expressive notes of kiwi, guava, pink grapefruit, lemon zest, and white peach. Layers of honeysuckle, wet stone, and Bosc pear skin add further dimension to the aromatic profile. The mouth is an intense expression of mountain Sauvignon Blanc with vibrant acidity and textured minerality. Giving lift and length, the acidity carries the wine to a long, lasting, and flavorful finish. This wine should drink wonderfully over the next 8-10 years. 500 cases produced."

Commentary by Robert Mark Kamen, Proprietor

Thirty five years ago when Phil Coturri and I planted my vineyard we focused on one thing, growing the very best Cabernet Sauvignon the land could produce. Years later, as people began to ask that I do wine dinners centered around our wines, I realized that I had no white wine grown on the Estate to serve for the first course. So I decided to grow white wine. The question was: what white wine to grow? When I presented this to our wine maker, Mark Herold, he said: "think of the white wine you most like to drink and plant that." Well that turned out to be a no brainer, because my favorite white wines, the ones I reach for first, are the Sauvignon Blanc based wines of Sancerre and Bordeaux. Seven years later, we are releasing our fourth vintage of a Sauvignon Blanc I am very proud of; a wine that can be thrilling when enjoyed in the vibrancy of its youth, or cellared and savored for years to come. I hope that our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is the bottle you reach for when you ask yourself: "what white wine shall I drink tonight?"
