"It comes mainly from Montepulciano grapes this extraordinary reserve Rosso Conero," Passo del Lupo ". It is a wine of great impact and can be considered as the more elegant and authoritative that the Fazi Battaglia managed to achieve in his efforts dedicated to red wines in the Marches.
The two types of grapes used for the production of the Passo del Lupo are hand picked and vinified separately in mid-October; after 14-20 days of maceration, the wine is blended in stainless steel vats and then transferred to French oak barrels of 225 liters where it matures for about 24 months; followed by 8-10 months in bottle."

Though often thought of as stars in their own right (think Chianti and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo), these varieties blend exceptionally well. The 2007 Fazi Battaglia Passo Del Lupo Rosso Conero Riserva is predominantly Montepulciano, with 15% Sangiovese. After 2 years in barrel, the wine rests 8 to 10 months in bottle before release. Even then, the wine is young. Rosso Conero Riserva wines are well-known for their age worthiness. The tannins need time to soften and round. Now, dark berry and black cherry emerge, framed by savory Italian herbs and silky tannins.
