Please note, orders are processed on a first come basis. If you leave the wine in your cart for even a few minutes it might have already sold out as our stock quantity is removed when you submit the order in final, not when you add it to your cart!

You will get two emails from us with regards to your order. The first email from us only confirms that we received your order. The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. Due to the high volume of sales there are times when the wine has sold out, but our system is still updating and shows it as available. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

Description:

About
Five generations of people who devoted their lives to wine have instilled in our souls a deep respect for the identity of our territory and a firm characterization of our products. What we want to offer is simply the interpretation of a terroir through our deep rooted beliefs. Our wines never look for unconditional approval and our personality is not prone to easy compromise.

The farmhouse “Poderi Aldo Conterno” is situated in Bussia, in the village Monforte d Alba, which is the very heart of the typical Barolo wine area. At present, the farm, which vinifies exclusively its own grapes, consists of about 25 hectares of vineyard. Most of the ground, which is at an altitude of about 400 m. above the sea level, is located South South-West and it is made of more or less compact sand layers of grey-brown colour alternated with white and bluish calcareous marls.

Barbera - "Conca Tre Pile"
the Conca Tre Pile is a hilly area in Bussia Soprana whose main vines are Barbera with vineyards having a maximum age of 45 years. The barrels (“barriques”) are 100% made of new wood.

The farmhouse is situated in the Bussia hamlet, a section of the Monforte d Alba village. At present, the farm comprises about 25 hectares of vineyards considered to be some of the very best plots in all of the Langhe. At an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level, the terrain is oriented south-southwest and is composed of gray-brown compact layers of sandy soil alternating with white and bluish calcareous marls, rich with calcium carbonate and iron. All fruit is strictly hand harvested in mid-October. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The estates four Barolos are vinified in the same manner: they are all fermented in horizontal fermenters, “which are different from the more violent rotary fermenters” according to Conterno. Fermentation and maceration lasts 2-3 weeks, depending on the vintage. The wines are then aged exclusively in Slavonian-oak casks ranging from 25 to 75 hectoliters, which are changed every 15-18 years. Selected yeasts are never used. The wines are remarkably approachable and tend to show a lot of sweet fruit in their youths as well as notes of spices and vanilla. These are very clean and polished wines of great elegance. All the other wines are aged in French-oak barriques. My tasting at Aldo Conterno was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Piemonte….The Conterno family embodies so many of the human values that make Piemonte such a special place. It is great to see them back at the top of their game. Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate #200, April 2012
