About Von Othegraven
The family of Metzenhausen of Hagen started around the year 1500 with the cultivation of wine. As a result, the estate of Othegraven must belong to the oldest wine estates in the Saar. In Kanzem on the Saar of viticulture in 1381 was first mentioned in a document. Until the winery in 1805, merges ultimately in the possession of the family Grach White Bach of Othegraven, it has a long, eventful history.
Finally, the estate came into the possession of the two sons of Julius White Bach, they remained childless and so the Good 1922 passed to the nephew, Maximilian von Othegraven. In the middle of 1950ger Years Maximilian von Othegraven bought the shares of his siblings and his brother Hans Jauch and gave the estate the name of Maximilian Othegraven. After his death, his wife Maria managed the winery and since this marriage was childless, the niece of Maria von Othegraven, Dr. Heidi Kegel inheriting it in 1995th She led it continues under the name of Othegraven and was anxious to bring the estate back on track. Because Heidi cone sold the estate in 2010 to Gunter Jauch, the vineyard reaches back to a direct grandson of Elsa von Othegraven and thus in the line of direct descendants Emmerich Grachs. Gunter Jauch and his wife Thea run the winery of Othegraven now in the 7th generation.
