88 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous
"Red cherries, raspberries, sweet tobacco and crushed flowers meld together in the 2012 Grignolino Bricco del Bosco. The is a bit rough around the edges, but not unpleasantly so for a rustic, red meant for the dinner table. As is the case throughout the range, there is no shortage of personality here." 10/2013
About the Winery
In the northern part of the Piedmont is where Barbera finds its boldest expression. These hills are
called the Monferrato, and are not far from the town of Vignale. Amongst what remains of a
multifaceted agriculture, the Accornero winery is situated in the middle of its artfully planted vineyard
lots. Barbera is obviously the main performer here, but the Malvasia di Casorzo grape has received
some good attention through its newly established appellation.
In 1897, the great grandfather of Ermanno Accornero purchased the Ca' Cima farm and laid the
foundation for the ongoing winemaking tradition. Thus we do not find overwhelming technology in
the Accornero cellar, but a solid winemaking experience from many vintages stored in the collective
family memory. A Grignolino is produced that combines the best of traditional winemaking, with the
improvements of clean, modern cellar work.
