"The wine is an intense red with dark tones. In the nose you get sweet notes of red fruits of cherries and raspberries stand out; in mouth it is a round well structured wine with sweet tannins. Rich and giving without being cloying.
Scents excel sweet, ripe red fruit and are complemented by notes of vanilla and oak own coffee. The palate has a sweet entrance, through full mouth, nice and silky tannins, medium body with a long finish." - Winery Tasting Notes
About the Winery
Bodega ATILIO AVENA is a typical family business where each of the links of the same have the active participation of family members, starting with agricultural activities and the development up to the marketing of wines in the domestic and foreign markets. The origins of it date back to 1930 when Don Atilio Avena, son of Piedmontese immigrants (traditional wine region of northern Italy), inherited the passion and knowledge that their parents transmitted to him for growing grapes. Working manually and craft its vineyards and taking care of each plant as if it were the only one. With the arrival of their children, in the mid-50s, studies and impetus they provided, they allowed the incorporation of agricultural machinery to modernize rural tasks and thus sell their grapes to wineries willingly receiving such excellent raw material. At the beginning of the 70's a winery acquired a traditional firm Mendoza, initiating the stage of winemaking, marketing them in bulk to other wineries frontline. With the third generation, the winery takes a new direction, starting to produce varietal wines with own name 'Atilio Avena' as a form of homage to the founder nonagenarian. Certainly the quality and recognition of the wines produced were opening the way for them to acquire their own identity, can benefit quickly prominently among the extensive and excellent wine menu of existing high-end.
