95 Pts James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion |
A wine to brighten up your day. Its sunny seriousness is worth marveling at. Clips of oak and washes of fruit. Toast, cream, citrus, sweet pear, the bite of grapefruit. Seamless and sophisticated and yet desperately easy to settle thoroughly into. |
90+ Pts Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate |
The 2011 Chardonnay is sourced from individual vineyard sites located in the southern reaches of the Margaret River region. 100% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 12 months in barrel. Aromas of shaved almonds, nectarines and lemon curd lead with hints of struck match, meal and brioche. Medium-bodied, there is a nice silkiness to the texture and plenty of bang-on flavor layers finishing with good persistence. |
Description:
James Halliday raved about this Chardonnayâs âseamless and sophisticatedâ side, making this the perfect remedy for the wine lover in all of us!
Stella Bella Chardonnay comes from a selection of individual vineyard sites located in the southern (cooler) reaches of the Margaret River region in order to capture strong varietal character and maintain high natural acidity. Applied to this rich collection of unique vineyards is the inspiration and skill of our winemaking team and you have a wine that is certain to age with majestic grace.
Without question, this 95 Point Chardonnay hails from one of the most popular wineries of 2014. Napa and Sonoma Chardonnay fans have in the past fallen in love with this winery. Margaret River is a tremendous spot for Chardonnay, and an area that we are sure many of you will seek out even more after you take just one sip of this. The price point here is much lower than you might expect when you see other offers on the market ... just another reason why this is just such a great deal!
Tasting Notes:
"Appearance: Pale straw with lime hues.
Aroma: An expressive nose of great intensity and complexity -- notes of apricot muesli, nashi pear, praline and toasty hazelnut nougat, with subtle smokey aromas from the finest quality French oak.
Palate: The generous palate is ripe, rich and textural -- the result of another perfect vintage here in Margaret River. Fresh stonefruit flavours continue highlighted with a delicious grapefruit brulee. The finish has a lingering nuttiness and complexity from the battonage, enhancing the signature length of flavour which shows great persistence." - Winery
Background:
"The most critical site selection is applied to vineyard sites for growing Stella Bella Chardonnay. Each location adds to the complexity of the wine due to the soils, aspect, clones and microclimates unique to the respective sites. Applied to this rich collection of unique vineyards is the inspiration and skill of our winemaking team that draws upon traditional Burgundian winemaking methods and the use of fine grain French oak to craft a layered, flavoursome and complex wine with the capacity to age gracefully." - Winery
