91 Pts Wine Enthusiast

"Bright fruit tones of cherry, pomegranate and red currant give this Brunello a pristine and youthful personality. The quality of those red fruit aromas is remarkable and the wine shows well-integrated spice, leather and tobacco notes. A very welcome splash of sweet-fruit flavor helps smooth out Sangiovese’s natural acidity. -ML"

90 Pts Ian Dagata - Vinous Media

"Bright red. Enticing aromas of sweet raspberry, licorice and herbs. Sweet, bright and suave, with good intensity to the fresh red fruit, graphite and nutty oak flavors. In a soft style, finishing with substantial ripe tannins and very good length; I would have scored it even higher had it shown just a little more complexity."

90 Pts James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com

"A wine with plum and light hazelnut character. Medium body, with fine tannins and a fresh, fruity finish. Drink or hold."

Description:

Wine:
"Red with good depth and intensity. Rim, denoting ageing, tends to terracotta in colour, then garnet. Very intense fragrances, expanded by a reducing ageing process which amplifies the hints of tobacco and lavender, typical of a prime Sangiovese. Soft and rich at the start with very good structure, generous and lingering, very persistent finish. Aromas are also fully expressed in the mouth with the presence of balanced wood exalting the aromatics of the variety." - Winery

Winery:
"The Collelceto Wine Estate owes its name to the many Holm oaks, commonly known as Ilex or Leccio trees, that give the hills to the southwest of the commune of Montalcino their appeal and their colors. The estate’s vineyards and winery are located in that zone.

After only a few years of bottling under their own label, the Palazzesi family today already belongs to the exclusive club of respected and reliable winemakers of Montalcino, with bottles in the best wine stores around the world. Collelceto is located on the courser soils of southwestern Montalcino representing a rare style of Brunello, with plenty of chocolate driven tannins and age worthiness. Catching the midday heat and lush evening sun, full-bodied and spicy wines are produced here: a Brunello for long cellaring, and a Rosso that challenges many Brunellos.

Collelceto was a traditionally run farmer’s operation just a few years ago, but has now been taken over by dynamic Elia Palazzesi, who with the help of enologist Lorenzo Landi realized this small farms full potential in the form of a full fledge winery. On what used to be Elisa’s parents farm, some of the finest expressions of Sangiovese are crafted today." - Importer
