"Maison Louis Jadot Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" is a robust, masculine wine. Its vigorous, rich fruit, set in a powerfully built structure, is completed by the distinct earthy notes of its ferrous soils and a lasting finish.
It will be a perfect partner for quite strong and spicy cuisine : entrecote steak in wine, game, strong cheeses like Livarot, Epoisses, Pont-l'Eveque...
The < Les Rugiens > vineyard consists of two parcels : Les Rugiens Hauts and Les Rugiens Bas, near the village itself, at the summit of the Pommard slope. The name "Rugiens", a derivative of rouge' (red), describes the reddish color of the soil, a result of its extremely high iron content.
All the wines of Maison Louis Jadot bear the same label. Together, the head of Bacchus, the decorative frieze and a particular shade of yellow are instantly recognisable, stamping the wine in the bottle as belonging to the Jadot stable. It's a sign of our commitment to quality regardless of whether that wine is a simple Burgundy or an exalted Grand Cru." - Winery
