"Small estate on Clesse (4 hectares). Soil is clay chalk (large flat chalk stone) and produce very typical chardonnay: round, powerful, mineral, and fruity. Vines are around 55 years old, regularly ploughed. Harvest is manual. Organic farming adds a bit tension to the wine, and a touch of white pepper on the finish. The owner of the vineyards was selling to the cave coop of Clesse and decided to quite it as he wanted to be organic farming and there was no traceability here. So he asked Charlet to vinify as we are certified to vinify organic grapes. The vines are worked very well so there is a strong organic life in the soil." - Importer

"The Charlet wines are made by the Barbet family's Cru-level Beaujolais. The Charlet's and Barbet's are related through marriage and the Charlet's were the original owners of Domaine des Billards in Saint Amour. The Barbet's purchase fruit from families they have known for generations. The land is farmed sustainably and the wines are made at the Barbet's winery in Beaujolais." -Importer
